PLANNING GRANTED FOR EXCITING NEW-BUILD ON GARDEN PLOT
We are extremely pleased to announce that we recently received planning approval for an exciting and architecturally inspiring new-build project.
One of the hardest challenges when contemplating a new-build is sourcing a suitable building plot, but if you are fortunate to have a large enough garden then one could be right under your nose.
After numerous failed attempts to obtain planning permission our Client approached Phi Design + Build to explore a fresh approach to the potential of a garden plot sited on the edge of a local Kent village, next to a listed building and in both a conservation area and AONB. Working within these parameters meant that obtaining planning permission was not going to be without its challenges!
A meticulously detailed feasibility study formed the start of the design process and regular meetings with the Client, Council Officers and Planning Advisor enabled us to collaborate ideas and opinions to produce a scheme which not only met with the expectations of the Client, but respected the site location and satisfied the requirements of the local council too.
The result is an exciting proposal; the 4-bed house is partially submerged below ground level with a sunken central courtyard bringing light in to the lower-ground floor. Above ground the house is clad in timber with a standing seam roof, and is shaped to echo the form of local agricultural barn buildings.
A key component in the communication of ideas and informing the decision making process was the inclusion of our in-house rendered 3D visuals to clearly demonstrate the form, massing and design features of the proposal.
